About the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Mount Vernon Developmental Center

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is a trauma informed care agency. We offer a state-wide system of supportive services that focus on ensuring health and safety, supporting access to community participation and increasing opportunities for meaningful employment. Mount Vernon Developmental Center is located in Ohio and is home to adults with developmental disabilities.

What You'll Do as a Psychology Supervisor:

  • Supervising the Psychology Assistant positions at the facility.
  • Developing and Implementing psychology services at the facility (e.g. testing, diagnosis, counseling, therapies, treatments, policy development & data analysis).
  • Chairs the Human Rights Committee to ensure any restrictive measures are necessary, humane and appropriate for the individual based on personal history/trauma.
  • Assesses individuals with suicidal thoughts and implements safety measures.
  • Participates in inter-disciplinary team and other meetings to ensure residents are receiving quality services.
  • Adheres to regulatory standards for the health and safety of residents.
  • Trains staff on topics related to psychology and gives other presentations.
  • Attends training to maintain professional license.

This position is on-site. Working days and hours of work will vary to meet the needs of individuals residing at the facility. This position is expected to be available by facility provided cell phone for after hours consultation.

Qualifications

License to practice psychology in Ohio pursuant to Section 4732.09 and 4732.21 of revised code; 12 mos. exp. as a licensed psychologist; 1 course in employee trg. & development or 3 mos. exp. providing work direction & training or supervision to psychology students, assistants, or psychologists.

Knowledge of clinical psychology; counseling; psycho diagnostics; psychotherapy; interviewing; statistics; project/program management*; employee training & development. Ability to understand abstract field of study; write meaningful, concise & accurate reports; write instructions, specifications, or technical manuals; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate action; counsel others on sensitive matters; interpret extensive variety of technical matters in books, journals & manuals. (*)Developed after employment.

May be exposed to unpredictable resident behavior.

The final candidate selected for the position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. An applicant with a positive test result will not be offered employment.
