Are you media savvy and enjoy helping organizations tell a story? Were currently hiring a Public Affairs Director with strategic and deep tactical expertise in public affairs/public relations. In this role, we are looking for a creative, natural storyteller with a demeanor that is equal parts persistence and patience, and an appetite for all traditional aspects of Cyber Communications. The Public Affairs Director will be responsible for drafting messaging, developing communication products, carrying out communication research, and advising the client on ways to improve communication. Flexible and collaborative by nature, requires an understanding of external communication, including social media, media relations, and content strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with communications team and client to develop content and campaign strategies tailored to reach the clients stakeholders including, but not limited to industry partners, government partners, international partners, the Hill, the media, and the general public
  • Proactive story development, drafting, and execution, developing strategies and plans for print, broadcast, and digital storytelling
  • Manage development, organization, and storage of owned content (including, but not limited to talking points, success stories, blogs, video pieces)
  • Serve as primary partner, providing public relations counsel, for client
  • Identify emerging news trends, which may impact the client and drive communication planning and response
  • Inform and sync with internal communication, web, social media, event, graphic design, and feedback and analytics efforts
  • Manage message development and work with the communications team to ensure all internal and external stories and social and digital properties reflect the most current key messaging
  • Oversee professional development of junior staff to ensure team is operating efficiently and effectively
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, or related field
  • 10 years of experience in communication or related field
  • Active/Current Top Secret government clearance, with Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to keep pace and thrive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across several different task areas
  • Experience supporting senior-level executives, preferably in high technology or cyber-based industries
  • Must have experience in technology or cyber related communications with the demonstrated ability to understand and articulate technology-driven solutions in plain English
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills
  • Strong project management skills and appetite for working on multiple projects concurrently
