This position leads communicable disease prevention and control, coordinates the public health immunization program, and supports public health emergency preparedness and response. Key responsibilities include disease surveillance and investigation (including tuberculosis), providing direct nursing care and education, managing vaccine programs and inventory, coordinating emergency preparedness planning and grants, and working with community partners to respond to outbreaks and emergencies. Responsibilities Receives, screens, and investigates reports of Tuberculosis in the county. Provides direct and indirect nursing care to tuberculosis patients; evaluates general health and medical conditions; coordinates care; collects sputum samples; checks for adverse effects of anti-TB drugs; provides TB education to clients and medical providers; and makes specific medical assessments based on the TB physician orders. Ensures proper storage, handling, administration, and documentation of vaccines. Maintains required standards for MnVFC and UUAV programs including vaccine ordering & inventory, temperature monitoring devices, vaccine reporting, and emergency planning. Manages inventory of vaccination supplies, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Prepares, administers, and manages the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grant to ensure deliverables and reports are submitted in a complete and timely manner. Uses public health surveillance/disease investigation methods in community outreach, screening, and case finding of communicable and infectious diseases that threaten the health of the community. Establishes, leads, and maintains community partnerships, multidisciplinary and/or interagency teams, and/or key stakeholders to implement public health emergency preparedness and tuberculosis control measures. Conducts, attends, and actively participates in regular local, regional, and select state emergency management or public health meetings to assure coordination of activities during emergencies. Assures that all emergency preparedness plans are completed, kept current, are disseminated, and that staff are appropriately trained with regard to appropriate National Incident Management System capabilities and able to execute the plans in an emergency. May administer and perform laboratory procedures, emergency first aid, and other medical treatments as necessary. Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication with clients, the public, and staff. Maintains good working relationships with clients and the public. Utilizes effective strategies to assist clients with limited English proficiency. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Minimum Qualifications A valid driver’s license. A license to practice Registered Nursing in the State of Minnesota. A Public Health Nursing Certificate. A bachelor’s degree, or higher degree, with a major in nursing. #J-18808-Ljbffr
