Purchasing Agent Opportunity:
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, receiving, distributing, and maintaining accurate financial and inventory records for a wide range of goods and services required to support North Central Health Care (NCHC) operations. This role collaborates closely with internal departments, vendors, and accounting staff to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and timely procurement while maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
The Purchasing Agent provides operational support and cross-coverage for Central Supply and Health Unit Purchasing functions as needed but does not have formal supervisory authority.

- The starting pay range for this role is $21.73 - $23.67, based on education and experience.
- This job is a full-time, in person position, usually working during business hours.

What You Bring:
Required:
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business or a closely related field.
- More than 1 year of experience in institutional purchasing, procurement or large scale buying.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field.
- More than 1 year of experience in healthcare, government, or large-scale purchasing environments.

What a Purchasing Agent does at NCHC:
- Source, evaluate, and purchase goods and services in a cost-effective and timely manner, ensuring quality, availability, and compliance with purchasing policies.
- Work with approved vendors, buying groups, and cooperative purchasing programs (e.g., MMCAP, Vizient, Amazon Business, Wisconsin DOA).
- Obtain and evaluate quotes for routine, specialty, and capital purchases in accordance with authorization requirements.
- Process requisitions, purchase orders, returns, credits, recalls, and outbound shipments.
- Receive and verify deliveries; reconcile packing slips, invoices, and receipts within accounting systems.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, and distribution records in Abila/MIP and related systems.
- Coordinate inventory stocking, distribution, and documentation for commonly used organizational supplies.
- Serve as a liaison with Facilities, Maintenance, and external service providers for parts, repairs, and equipment ordering.
- Manage business mobile phone procurement, inventory tracking, billing review, and vendor coordination.
- Support furniture, fixture, and equipment (FFE) needs, including sourcing, delivery coordination, assembly, installation, storage, and disposal.
- Assist with audit preparation by providing documentation, reports, and process explanations as requested.
- Maintain knowledge of market trends, product availability, and pricing within healthcare and public-sector procurement.
- Promote fiscal responsibility, safety, and compliance in all purchasing activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
