Purchasing Operations Manager Newark, NJ | Full-Time | Onsite Estimated Salary: $120,000-$150,000 Schedule Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Friday: 8:00 AM-1:00 PM Position Overview We're looking for a hands‑on leader to take ownership of our Purchasing department and build a more efficient, accountable operation. You’ll lead a team of 7-10 purchasing professionals while ensuring purchase orders are executed accurately, inventory stays in stock, suppliers deliver on time, and purchasing supports production without interruption. Success in this role comes from improving processes, developing your team, solving problems before they impact production, and creating a purchasing organization that runs with discipline and accountability. Responsibilities Lead, coach, and develop a team of 7-10 buyers and purchasing professionals. Oversee daily purchasing operations, including purchase orders, supplier follow‑up, and order execution. Monitor inventory levels, supplier ETAs, and shortages to ensure uninterrupted production. Manage inbound containers, shipping documentation, vendor payments, and ERP purchasing data. Improve purchasing processes, create SOPs, and identify automation opportunities. Build dashboards and reports to improve visibility and decision‑making. Hold suppliers and the purchasing team accountable for performance, accuracy, and on‑time execution. Partner with Planning, Warehouse, and Operations to resolve issues and improve efficiency. Must‑Haves Experience leading a purchasing or procurement team. Experience improving purchasing processes and workflows. Strong ERP and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability. Experience managing inventory, supplier performance, and purchasing operations. Manufacturing or distribution experience preferred. What Success Looks Like Purchasing operates with clear processes and accountability. Inventory shortages and purchasing delays are minimized. Buyers perform independently with strong ownership. ERP data and purchasing metrics are accurate and reliable. Cross‑functional communication improves, keeping production on schedule.
