Purchasing Specialist The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's procurement activities by coordinating the purchase of goods and services, guiding internal departments through purchasing procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring compliance with established policies. This role manages vendor communication, prepares bid and contract documents, and assists with reporting and administrative functions. This is a Contract to Hire opportunity located near Elgin, IL. - Process and manage purchase orders, vendor registrations, bids, RFP/RFQ documents, contracts, and compliance materials.
- Guide departments through the purchasing process, ensuring complete specifications, accurate documentation, and adherence to purchasing policies.
- Maintain organized purchasing files, logs, and databases; track active bids, proposals, and procurement activity.
- Communicate with vendors to request quotes, clarify requirements, and resolve purchasing inquiries.
- Prepare purchasing reports, spend analyses, and recommendations for leadership review.
- Assist with updating and enforcing purchasing procedures, contract administration, and special purchasing projects.
- Participate in bid openings, pre?bid meetings, and departmental purchasing discussions.
- Provide administrative support including customer assistance, record maintenance, and year?end purchasing tasks.
- Associate degree or higher in Purchasing, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in purchasing, contract administration, accounting, or finance.
- Knowledge of accounting software and general accounting processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret data, compute percentages, and perform spend analysis.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to work with internal departments and external vendors.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, technical documents, financial reports, and bid specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record when required.

- Pay $27-$32 an hour depending on experience
