For information on our international network visit We are seeking a detailoriented and motivated QA/QC Technician to join our Barrett Paving Materials - New York Central team in Jamesville, NY . This entrylevel position supports our Quality Control department by conducting laboratory and field testing on hot mix asphalt and aggregates to ensure compliance with federal, state, and customer specifications. The role works closely with asphalt plant personnel, construction teams, and governmental agencies and reports directly to the QC/QA Manager. Compensation $23.00 - $30.00 Main Responsibilities Perform sampling and laboratory testing on hot mix asphalt and aggregates Record test results, maintain logs, and prepare basic test reports Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration, and lab supply inventory Support field monitoring to ensure compliance with specifications Communicate findings to plant personnel, construction teams, agencies, and customers Complete required reports for governmental and customer specifications Perform additional duties as assigned Skills Knowledge of hot mix asphalt quality control data Experience with lab equipment such as gyratory compactors, sieves, TMD apparatus, ignition furnace Familiarity with paving processes and construction material standards Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze numerical data Ability to work independently and within a team Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong organizational and communication skills Experience Minimum 2+ years of general work experience . Laboratory or construction materials experience preferred but not required. Education High school diploma or associate degree required . NYSDOT QC/QA Certification preferred but not required . Physical Requirements Extensive standing and walking Climbing stairs and ladders as needed Ability to lift up to 80 lbs Ability to work near mechanical equipment and heating devices (hot plates, propane burners, ignition ovens, etc.) Ability to work in an active construction, industrial, or quarry environment Colas Inc. and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
