We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality and Environmental Manager to play a pivotal role in upholding our quality standards and driving environmental excellence.
Position Overview:
As the Quality and Environmental Manager, you will report to the Director of Quality Assurance and be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive quality control program. Your role is crucial in ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, engineering, and customer requirements, thus minimizing product liability, upholding customer satisfaction, and promoting a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Quality Control Program to ensure compliance with regulatory, engineering, and customer requirements.
  • Oversee receiving inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection to verify product compliance, encompassing visual, dimensional, physical, and functional assessments.
  • Lead and coordinate the quality control team, providing guidance and support to subordinates.
  • Investigate and implement new quality control methods and equipment to enhance manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage the budget for the quality control department, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Stay current with and implement new and revised regulations, standards, procedures, and policies related to quality control.
  • Work proactively to prevent errors and drive personal and departmental quality improvement projects.
  • Monitor the interaction of all resources (manpower, material, and equipment) throughout the product lifecycle, from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate with direct reports to implement equipment and techniques that enhance product quality, process efficiency, and manufacturing costs.
  • Conduct periodic audits of manufacturing facilities to assure adherence to design and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial fabrication, steel plate fabrication, or related industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality control methodologies and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Budget management proficiency.
  • Commitment to environmental and quality excellence.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and best practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide clear instructions to contractors and plant personnel.
  • Knowledge of machining, metrology, quality control, mathematics, and engineering economics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and manuals.
  • Physical capabilities to perform inspections, including bending, stretching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Essential Functions:
  • Manage and supervise the shop's team, providing guidance and support to subordinates.
  • Ensure company products meet regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of manufacturing facilities to ensure adherence to design and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide data analysis and reporting to support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee manufacturing quality programs as required by federal regulations.
  • Participate in and actively support quality projects, Responsible Care initiatives, and company goals.
