Position Profile

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for the maintenance of the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) and related tasks to assure Quality in everything we do.

Coaching & Talent Development - Overseeing talent development programs and efforts about quality (such as volunteers for the quality committee and internal audits); taking interest in the advancement of skills for quality technicians.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering required.
  • 7 + years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in casting/extrusion, welded steel, sheet fabrication, and/or powder coating is desired.
  • Ability to act as a change agent and influence, both internal and external functional areas, and suppliers.
  • Ability to integrate and apply solutions for quality performance and continual improvement, both breakthrough and systematic throughout the organization.
  • Quality Assurance Engineer

  • Experience managing and evaluating performance both for existing as well as new suppliers is desired.
  • Manages relationships with suppliers with a focus on the improvement of product quality.
  • Performs audits to ensure compliance with the quality standards of their organization and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to develop and implement quality controls and process improvement through first-time quality (FTQ) and lean/six sigma initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methods to ensure appropriate application and analysis of data.
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, data analysis, and project management skills.
  • Practical and results-oriented.
  • Greenbelt certification required, Blackbelt preferred.
  • What you’ll do

  • Demonstrates a mindset and commitment to continuous improvement across the operation (i.e. defines improvement goals, establishes accountability through metrics, uses Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniques to continually improve processes and business results, and establishes a mindset within operations to document and control processes; promotes safety and housekeeping
  • Accountable for auditing the BEGA Quality System and key characteristics to ensure product and service quality
  • Provide support to the Quality Team and indirect staff by leading, supporting, and coaching members ensuring continual development of competencies about quality
  • Responsible for driving effective organization containment and corrective action processes to support product or quality system failures.
  • Develops and improves quality criteria standards for current and future processes
  • Performs supplier audits and article inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory standards, and specifications.
  • Supports other cross-functional departments with expertise and manpower to the extent possible when process improvement is required
  • Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, vendor quality systems
  • Work with customers, employees, contractors, and outsourcing firms to develop product requirements
  • Manage the monitoring, measurement, evaluation, and analysis activities to ensure conformance to all applicable requirements and expectations
