Quality Assurance Inspector Apply
POSITION SUMMARYThe Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all machined components meet strict dimensional and cosmetic requirements before reaching the customer. Operating in a precision machining environment supporting aerospace, defense, and industrial applications, this role performs first-article and in-process inspections using CMM and manual metrology tools, documents results, and works closely with machinists to identify and resolve nonconformances. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, confidence interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, and the ability to maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production setting.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESPerform dimensional inspection of machined components using CMM (Zeiss Contura / Calypso), micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision hand toolsInterpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and customer specifications to determine inspection criteriaExecute First Article Inspection (FAI) and in-process inspection in accordance with customer requirementsDocument inspection results accurately in quality records, inspection reports, and nonconformance reports (NCRs)Identify, tag, and quarantine non-conforming material; support root cause analysis and corrective action activitiesMaintain calibration records and ensure all measurement equipment is within calibration statusSupport internal and external quality audits as requiredCommunicate inspection findings clearly to machinists, shop floor leads, and quality managementContribute to continuous improvement initiatives targeting defect reduction and inspection efficiencyREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS2+ years of quality inspection experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environmentProficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)Experience with CMM operation (programming and/or execution); Calypso experience a plusHands-on competency with standard metrology tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, thread gauges)Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systemsStrong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and ability to communicate findings clearlyAbility to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced production environmentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturingKnowledge of AS9100 requirementsExperience writing or supporting FAI documentation (AS9102)Familiarity with ERP/MES systems for logging inspection dataCMSC, CQT, or equivalent metrology/quality certification
