Description

We are working with a food manufacturer near Hobbs, NM seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee the safety and quality of all food products manufactured by their company. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) program that adheres to all regulatory standards and company specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA and food safety processes, systems, and procedures in accordance with local regulations (FDA, USDA), industry standards (GFSI, SQF), and customer requirements.
  • Oversee the quality control of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods through sampling, testing, and inspections.
  • Conduct regular audits of production operations to identify and address any potential quality or food safety issues.
  • Lead investigations into quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to prevent future occurrences.
  • Manage the QA department budget and resources effectively.
  • Train and mentor QA staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest food safety regulations and industry trends.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to QA activities, including reports, audits, and CAPA plans.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, such as Production, Operations, and R&D, to ensure seamless integration of QA principles throughout the entire food production process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or a similar role within the food industry.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP principles and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain effective QA programs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant QA software (preferred).
