Job Overview
Position: Quality Control Engineer at Hensel Phelps in Taylor, Texas. The role involves performing quality control tasks at the project level, ensuring compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements in a safety‑sensitive environment.
Core Responsibilities
Interface directly with the owner’s quality assurance team on all quality‑related issues.
Understand and apply specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
Perform initial and follow‑up inspections and manage the punch‑list process.
Maintain records of inspected areas, tests performed and significant findings.
Initiate deficiency reports and track resolution to stakeholder satisfaction.
Collaborate with trade‑partner QC personnel, review QC logs and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Assist in coordination and scheduling of third‑party testing and source inspections, and interface with testing agencies as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
Four‑year degree in civil, structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience on large commercial construction projects.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and tools such as Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD.
Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain follow‑up.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.
Physical Demands
Moderate work. The role may involve lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. Activities include walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, reading, speaking, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and typing. Frequent computer use and communication with stakeholders are required. Exposure to high/low temperatures, noisy environments, and outdoor elements is possible. Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps may be needed.
