Job Description
Purpose of the job
Continuously improve customer satisfaction. Develop quality standards, investigate non-conforming products and materials, ensure containment, determine root cause, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Audit procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance. Partner with internal operations team members and key suppliers to implement error proofing and other process controls.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Develop Supplier Quality Guidelines to identify capable suppliers, control change requirements, and respond to nonconforming materials
- Develop risk-based control plans using historical data and FMEA to ensure quality specifications deliver customer satisfaction efficiently
- Establish effective quality metrics to ensure process control and timely reaction to changes in capability
- Develop inspection and test methods to ensure the quality of incoming materials; and equipment and capability
- Establish effective quality control methods including poke yoke and SPC
- Investigate quality concerns, ensure containment, determine root cause and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Develop a deep understanding of relevant codes, product specifications, and manufacturing processes
- Maintain reference materials and control essential Quality Management System documents
- Provide cross-functional leadership to achieve specific breakthrough improvement goals
- Work cross functionally to develop procedures, work instructions, forms, and records in support of an effective Quality Management System
- Ensure revision control and convenient access
Essential Qualifications
Structural Concepts is looking for entry level to senior Quality Engineers, and a job offer will be in line with the following expectations:
Level I
- Education: BS in Engineering, Statistics, Operations or closely related field.
- Experience 1 – 3 years
- Problem Solving Skills
- Auditing skills
- Skilled in collecting and visualizing data using trend charts, histograms, Pareto charts, etc.
- Excellent phone and email communicator.
- Functional knowledge of MS desktop and ERP applications.
Level II
- Experience 3 – 7 years
- Quality Management -OR- equivalent experience and professional training
- Skilled in applying advanced Quality tools including, SPC, FMEA, Gauge R and R, Ishikawa diagrams, QFD, Regression, ANOVA, Cpk, etc.
- Skilled in APQP - identifying critical to quality (CTQ) variables and developing control plans
Level III
- Experience 7+ years
- Skilled in coaching and influencing others
- Deep understanding of ISO9001 Quality Management Systems
- Skilled in facilitation breakthrough process capability methods using six sigma and advanced statistical tools such as DOE
