Overview Quality Engineering Manager — Fusion Optix (Woburn, MA) Fusion Optix is a technology leader in optical materials and photonic components that power the next generation of LED lighting and display systems. We design and manufacture advanced optical films, diffusers, reflectors, and precision LED modules used in applications ranging from architectural lighting to medical devices and smart infrastructure. As part of the 3LED Group, a growing family of U.S.-based lighting and photonics companies, Fusion Optix combines deep scientific expertise in optics and materials engineering with world-class in-house manufacturing capabilities. We are expanding our operations to support rapid growth across our customer base and product lines — and we are seeking a Quality Engineering Manager who shares our passion for precision, innovation, and performance. Position Overview The Quality Engineering Manager will lead the development and continuous improvement of Fusion Optix’s Quality Management System and ensure that every product we ship — from optical films and reflectors to LED boards and assemblies — meets the highest standards for optical performance, reliability, and manufacturability. This role blends technical depth with practical, hands-on leadership. You’ll be a central figure in driving optical quality standards, supporting production and R&D, and building the systems and processes that underpin our reputation for Optical Intelligence™ and Made-in-USA excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead and continuously improve Fusion Optix’s Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and customer-specific optical and photometric performance requirements. Oversee all aspects of incoming inspection, in-process control, and final product validation for optical components, materials, and LED assemblies. Partner with Engineering and Production teams to define optical and material quality standards, including film transmittance, reflectivity, and surface quality. Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) programs across optical materials, SMT, and assembly processes. Develop and manage test and measurement protocols for light distribution, color consistency, glare, and optical uniformity. Lead efforts in supplier quality management, ensuring that key materials — from optical resins to LED packages — meet defined tolerances and performance metrics. Mentor and develop quality technicians, building a proactive and accountable quality culture across all production shifts. Support new product introduction (NPI) processes with a focus on optical validation, material stability, and long-term reliability testing. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. Minimum 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment involving optical materials, photonics, LED systems, or precision components. Strong knowledge of ISO-based quality systems, statistical process control (SPC), and optical testing methodologies. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional quality initiatives across design, manufacturing, and supply chain. Hands-on familiarity with optical test equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers, goniophotometers, integrating spheres, surface profilometers) preferred. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and data-driven approach to problem-solving. Why Join Fusion Optix Join a pioneering company in optics and advanced materials that is shaping the future of light. Work with an interdisciplinary team of optical scientists, engineers, and makers within a fully integrated U.S. manufacturing platform. Be part of 3LED Group, a fast-growing ecosystem of lighting and photonics companies that includes Xico Lighting, LEDdynamics, ProLume, LEDSupply, and FlexGrid Systems. Competitive compensation, healthcare, 401(k), and career advancement opportunities within a dynamic and expanding organization. Make an impact — helping bring next-generation, high-performance, sustainable lighting technologies to life.
