Job title: Quality Inspector Job family: General Management Business area: Pulp & Paper Service Contract location: Pell City, AL, US Working location: Pell City, AL, US Location type: Office Location / Office-based Contract type: Permanent Pell City, Alabama General Description We are looking for a Quality Inspector to perform detailed post-operative equipment analyses and support quality inspections to ensure accurate repair scopes and high-quality documentation. Position reports to the Quality Manager. Job Responsibilities and Tasks Perform post-operative inspections following established analytical procedures, including documenting as-received conditions and capturing detailed photography. Collect baseline data such as scale readings, clearances, and dimensional measurements, and coordinate grease sampling and shipment. Assess consumables—including bearings, seals, packing, gaskets—for wear patterns and failure modes, and document findings for reports and training. Generate comprehensive Reliability Inspection Reports with conclusions and repair recommendations. Maintain accuracy and organization of all reliability-related documentation and inspection records. Support the improvement and development of reliability procedures and new analytical techniques. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of equipment components to determine repair work scopes. Read and interpret machining and fabrication drawings, surface finishes, weld symbols, and GD&T requirements. Perform nondestructive examinations such as liquid penetrant testing and magnetic particle inspection and evaluate weld quality. Ensure equipment is properly identified, tagged, and recorded across all inspection stages. Qualification Requirements High school diploma required; technical or inspection certifications preferred. Ability to follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Ability to learn and operate Romer coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Working knowledge of equipment fabrication, machining, and welding technologies. Ability to interpret machining and fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T requirements. Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently or in a team environment. Experience operating forklifts, cranes, or similar mobile equipment. Ability to maintain a clean, organized work environment following 5S principles. Ability to perform essential physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs., working in varied environments, and wearing required PPE. Physical and Mental Qualifications Requires ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which may include exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels, dust, dirt, fumes, welding machines, heavy duty magnets and manual/remote controlled devices using radio signals. Physical conditions for positions: sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, grasp, ascend/descend stairs and ladders, maneuver within tight spaces, routinely lift up to 50 lbs. Must have visual acuity, excellent mobility, good hearing, manual dexterity, good balance, ability to endure long hours, excellent problem solving skills, and wear required personal protective equipment.
