Job Description
Description:

The Quality Manager oversees all quality assurance and quality control functions to ensure aerospace products meet stringent industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance. This role provides strategic leadership for the Quality Management System (QMS), drives continuous improvement, manages audits, and partners with engineering, operations, and suppliers to maintain the highest level of product integrity and operational excellence.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Quality Leadership & Compliance

  • Oversee and maintain compliance with aerospace standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP (as applicable), and customer-specific requirements.
  • Lead internal, customer, and third-party audits; ensure timely corrective actions and root-cause analysis.
  • Manage the Quality Management System (QMS), including documentation, process control, and continuous improvements.

Product Quality & Inspection

  • Oversee inspection activities: first article inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections per standards (e.g., AS9102).
  • Ensure calibration, measurement systems, and inspection tools meet industry and company standards.
  • Investigate nonconforming material, identifying root causes and implementing corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Supplier Quality

  • Develop and manage supplier qualification and quality programs — including audits, performance monitoring, and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with purchasing and engineering to ensure suppliers meet aerospace quality and delivery requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop quality inspectors, engineers, and technicians; build a culture of quality.
  • Establish quality goals, metrics/KPIs (e.g., scrap rate, rework rates, defect rates) to support organizational objectives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Champion operational excellence initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, defect-reduction, process optimization).
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement projects to reduce scrap, rework, and “cost of poor quality.”

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of quality experience in aerospace manufacturing or machining — with 3+ years in supervisory or management capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 standards and aerospace regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA systems, PPAP/FAI, SPC, MSA, control plans, FMEA.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications such as ASQ CQE or CQM/OE are a plus.
