Quality Manager Apply
Position Objective:
This position is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety across all aspects of operations. This role plays a pivotal role in developing and implementing quality management systems and fostering a culture of excellence within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Quality Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive quality management system (QMS) in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish quality control processes for all phases of production, including component manufacturing, assembly, testing, and installation.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance with quality standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and enhance product quality and reliability.
- Provide training and support to employees on quality assurance procedures and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards governing the wind energy industry in Texas, including OSHA, EPA, and ANSI/ISO standards.
- Stay informed about changes in legislation, regulations, and industry best practices related to quality and health & safety and ensure timely updates to policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to regulatory compliance, audits, inspections, training, and incident investigations.
- Establish quality criteria and specifications for components and materials procured from suppliers and conduct supplier evaluations and audits to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their quality requirements and expectations, and address any concerns or issues related to product quality or performance.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality and health & safety and implement measures to improve performance and efficiency.
- Facilitate quality improvement initiatives and projects, such as Lean Six Sigma methodologies, to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by encouraging employee involvement and participation in quality and safety initiatives.
- Develop and implement an effective health and safety management system (HSMS) to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential health and safety hazards associated with workshop operations.
- Establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Provide ongoing safety training and education to employees, contractors, and visitors, covering topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and accident prevention.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
- Mastery in ISO 9001 auditing and implementation, coupled with expertise in ISO process definition, application, and communication.
- Advanced technical proficiency in Wind Energy, including farms and turbines, complemented by mechanical knowledge for comprehensive understanding.
- Exceptional ability to instruct Quality Assurance and instill Quality behaviors among colleagues and clients, alongside demonstrated fluency in technical writing and a strong grasp of employee health, safety, and workshop security operations.
- Advanced knowledge in technical aspects related to bearings, gearboxes and main shafts, crucial components in mechanical systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, demonstrating competence in various office productivity tools for efficient documentation and communication.
- Accustomed to Six Sigma Black Belt certification and methodology.
- Familiar with conducting internal audits and developing action plans, including corrective measures.
- Accustomed to keeping the inventory of measuring tools and equipment, as well as monitoring calibrations.
- Familiar with the metric system and with using small gauges and micrometers both vernier and digital.
- Mastery in Quality Orientation, demonstrated through meticulous attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Exceptional Communication Skills, enabling clear and effective interaction with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment on quality objectives.
- Proficiency in Planning and Organization, facilitating the systematic development and execution of quality-related processes and initiatives, coupled with the ability to train and mentor others in quality practices and standards.
Over 5 years of experience in the following:
- Quality management and/or health & safety leadership roles, preferably in the wind energy or manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles, techniques, and tools, such as statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to the wind energy sector, including OSHA regulations.
- Experience leading and managing audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
