We are one Snap-on team.We presently have a full-time position for a Quality Manager at our Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing plant. This position reports directly to the plant manager and is responsible for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all quality systems at the Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing facility, which includes, but not limited to ISO-9001 (the latest version). Use appropriate skills and techniques to improve process capability resulting in improved products and reduce the overall cost of quality.This position offers an excellent salary and a complete benefits package after only 30 days of service to include:Three health insurance plans to choose from, one includes an employer contribution Health Savings Account (HSA) with an employer contribution.Vision and Dental Insurance plansAn option for a Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Spending Account (FSA)Company paid life insurance, as well as short and long term disability coverage.Employee assistance program (EAP)Supplemental Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance can be purchased at nominal ratesDiscounts on travel and company products including toolsA tuition reimbursement programA 401K with an employer match/contribution at 3%Paid vacation time11 paid holidaysA climate-controlled work environment with heating and air conditioning.Weekly pay.ResponsibilitiesKey tasks include:Drive non-negotiable safety throughout the quality department as well as on the production floor.Act as both quality systems and quality control manager.Act as the Elkmont plant quality management representative for quality systems.Ensure compliance to the Snap-on Quality system (ISO9000) and coordinate training activities.Ensure that the Elkmont plant's quality system is properly and accurately documented to meet the requirements of all systems standards.Ensure that inspection, measuring and test equipment in the facility is controlled per the plant's policies/procedures.Develop and maintain the documented quality system. This includes, but is not limited to writing, reviewing, and updating quality policies, procedures, inspection instructions, and work instructions.Ensure that nonconforming product is detected and that proper disposition and corrective/preventative actions are taken to prevent recurrence of nonconformitiesDevelop/implement and maintain methods of tracking quality performance in terms of scrap/rework and customer complaints. Identify main areas for improvement and drive projects or kaizen events to improve quality metrics.Coordinate internal and 3rd party audits to review quality system(s)Maintain records for deviations, Supplier Rejections Notices (both external as well as inter-plant)Support purchasing with PPAP process and SCAR process to resolutionParticipate in New Product Development to ensure product is produced within design specificationsInterface with corporate Product Management to investigate and resolve field product issuesWork with engineering and operations to run DOE's to improve quality and productivitySupervise direct reports and provide periodic performance feedback with coaching and mentoring.QualificationsRequirements include:Bachelor's Degree, preferably in an engineering or technical discipline, and a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in manufacturing.Minimum of five (5) years experience related to inspection techniques and procedures.Must have working knowledge of ISO or QS9001 quality systems or the latest version.Should have training and proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, ability to read and interpret blueprints, product standards (internal as well as external to Snap-on) and requirements.Proficient in problem-solving and statistical analysis techniques.Must be able to communicate with peers and subordinates. Must have basic knowledge of production machines, tool & fixture design, and safe operating practices and procedures and basic understanding of mathematical principles.Leadership ability to provide guidance and directionDemonstrated experience with FMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE and other quality or technical toolsQuality certification CQA - preferred.Black Belt Certification is preferred.
