Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of quality assurance and control within a precision manufacturing and machine shop environment. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in ISO quality systems, inspection methods, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement in a CNC and manual machining environment. This role is critical to maintaining high standards of product quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 or AS9100 standards.
Lead internal and external audits, manage non-conformances, and ensure corrective/preventive actions are completed.
Supervise inspection processes, including first article, in-process, and final inspections for machined parts and assemblies.
Manage quality control personnel, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
Collaborate with Engineering and Production to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
Maintain and calibrate measuring equipment such as CMMs, micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Oversee documentation including inspection reports, control plans, work instructions, and deviation reports.
Interface with customers and suppliers on quality issues, complaints, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Utilize tools such as FMEA, SPC, PPAP, 5 Whys, and Root Cause Analysis to support quality and process improvement.
Monitor quality metrics and generate reports for senior management; track trends and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred); equivalent work experience considered
6+ years of experience in a quality management role within a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of machining processes (CNC milling, turning, etc.), GD&T, and blueprint reading
Proficiency with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 standards
Experience with metrology tools and quality inspection software (e.g., Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS, etc.)
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis
Strong computer skills including MS Office and ERP/MRP systems
