Job Summary
The Quality Manager develops, implements and continuously improves a system to assure that all Duke products meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality and reliability levels - thereby enabling the organization to deliver impactful solutions and develop enduring customer relationships. Leads and develops Quality team members in a way that maximizes team member engagement. Collaborates and communicates cross functionally as well as with customers and suppliers to analyze problems, determine root causes and provide and validate solutions to reduce or eliminate risks to achieving quality and reliability standards. Leads the enterprise in the development, sustainment, and continuous improvement of quality management best practices in a way that models Duke's values. Is a backup resource for the Director of Enterprise Improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains quality assurance capabilities, objectives and roadmaps that support enterprise goals and strategy deployment.
- Leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the quality management system based on industry best practices, data from warranty, audit and other internal sources.
- Create and maintain visual management tools to monitor the Quality Management System.
- Leads and develops Quality Team members to maximize their engagement and realize their potential.
- Continuously improve technical, problem solving, and leadership skills of the Quality team.
- Provides training to Quality and Production employees of quality requirements and best practices and promotes a culture of quality.
- Develops, maintains, and monitors internal, certification, and supplier audit schedules and programs.
- Maintain and monitor Duke's ISO certification and other Quality-related certifications, in partnership with the Compliance Manager. Establish internal steering team to make improvements based on audit feedback.
- Manages the maintenance of Duke's quality document control system.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to assure designs and processes are capable of consistently meeting quality standards. Develop quality plans and related documentation to support.
- Is a Duke certified Internal Auditor, conducts audits, and coaches audit team members.
- Conducts & coaches root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action with Duke team members and suppliers to improve the quality of Duke products and processes. Documents and shares learnings with stakeholders.
- Keeps stakeholders informed of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
- Serves on continuous improvement teams.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance data and metrics to identify risks and opportunities and drive improvement efforts. Maintains department KPIs.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts in the Quality department, including Managing for Daily Improvement, Projects, and Rapid Improvement Events.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is a must.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supervising a quality management team within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality control standards, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree and/or Master's degree in a related field.
- Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt).
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles.
