Job Title: Quality Specialist Location: Amelia, LA Position Overview A Quality Specialist inspects materials and products for conformance to specifications, codes, drawings, and quality procedures. Responsibilities Examines materials or products for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds. Interface between production, engineering, regulatory and customer for scheduling and documenting tests and inspections. Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly. Verifies specified dimensions of product or material, using inspection equipment. Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag. Test products for workmanship induced defects, such as leaks and internal cracks using air or water pressure. Test mechanisms for clearance and freedom of movement. Provide oversight (as required) during system commissioning by production or equipment manufacturers. Assists the Testing and Trials department personnel with systems testing and sea trials. Performs other duties as specified by the Program Manager or Post Delivery Warranty Program Manager. Develops inspection plans for new construction. Qualifications Five (5) years of manufacturing, shipyard, or quality (testing and inspecting) experience. Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: structural fitting/welding, pipe fitting/welding, electrical/electronic systems, machining, painting (coating), mechanical and testing. Certified VT Level II or CWI required. Skills and Abilities Understanding of NDE methods including Radiographic Testing (RT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Testing (UT). Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading. Experienced in using Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
