Key Responsibilities
Daily Activities
- Aerospace Production Oversight Monitor daily production through inspection using CMM, height gages, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Directly interface with machinists to resolve dimensional or process issues to prevent nonconforming product.
- Calibration Control Maintain the calibration schedule; calibrate in-house instruments as required and record results.
- Coordinate external calibration of gages and standards, ensuring all are traceable to NIST. Maintain all calibration reports in the QMS.
- Nonconformance Management Record and track Customer Complaints, Returned Product, Nonconforming Material, and Customer-Furnished Unsuitable Material.
- Traveler Review Review aerospace travelers for completeness and accuracy, accessing and updating as necessary.
- Customer Communication Communicate directly with customers via email regarding quality issues, corrective actions, and documentation requests.
Long-Term Activities
- CMM Operating & Programming Create or update inspection programs in PC-DMIS as required; perform offline CAD model review using PC-DMIS.
- QMS Documentation Control Monitor and update all Level 1 3 documents to ensure current revision status and compliance with AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015.
- Internal Auditing Plan and perform internal audits across all departments in accordance with AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- External Audits Participate in all customer and regulatory audits, providing required documentation and evidence of compliance.
- Corrective & Preventive Actions Lead and ensure completion of all Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Management Review Prepare for and facilitate quarterly (or bi-annual) management review meetings, compiling performance metrics and quality data.
- Preventive Maintenance Record all preventive maintenance activities for inclusion in the QMS.
- Employee Training Conduct or coordinate quality training for new and existing employees.
- Risk Management Maintain and update the COTO (Context of the Organization) log, including risk assessments and opportunities for improvement.
- After each CAPA event, review for inclusion in the COTO log.
- Process & Document Change Control Record and maintain Process Change Orders (PCOs) and Document Change Orders (DCOs) for QMS inclusion.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in precision manufacturing or aerospace quality systems.
- Proficiency with CMM operation and PC-DMIS programming required.
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100D / ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- Experience with calibration systems, UniPoint (or similar QMS software)
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, GD&T, and complex aerospace specifications.
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Extended periods of sitting or standing at CMM workstations.
- Use of precision inspection tools requiring fine motor skills and visual acuity.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and office environment with exposure to shop floor activities, including noise and occasional handling of small parts.
