Pay Rate: $74/hr

Duration: 13 weeks contract

Shift: 8hr Day

Guarantee Hours: 40

"Your pay is based on whether you are in a local or travel position. A travel position is defined as residing more than 75 miles from the facility."

Job Summary:

  • Nuclear Med Tech
  • JANUARY 2025 START
  • 13 weeks
  • 40 hours, DAYS
  • One recall every other Sunday
  • Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine Technology program, NYS license/registration, ARRT or CNMT certification in Nuclear Medicine
  • One year Nuclear Medicine experience
  • CPR certification required
  • Under general supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals; performs high quality testing on patients utilizing special training in the safe use of radioactive materials, sophisticated imaging equipment and knowledge in delivering quality health care to the patient care with no age limitations.
  • Review provider's orders and consults with the Radiologist as necessary. Completes all departmental processes for resulting and documentation of exams. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all equipment located within the Nuclear Medicine department. Prepares, calibrates, documents accurately and administers radiopharmaceuticals for administration by injection, ingestion, and inhalation methods. Ability to perform SPECT imaging. Maintains a daily activities log. Ensures appropriate storage and ordering of supplies for the Nuclear Medicine area. Monitors and reports supply in shortage and special-order items. Performs visual preventive safety inspections and conducts daily quality assurance tests on all equipment. Identifies any problems and communicates to the immediate supervisor. Evaluates recorded images for technical quality. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper positioning. Provides radiation protection to patients, staff and self-according to prescribed safety standards and effectively operates radiation detection equipment.

The Nuclear Medicine Technician is responsible for preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals, performing nuclear medicine procedures, and producing diagnostic images for physician interpretation. The technician ensures patient safety and comfort while delivering high-quality imaging services in a compassionate and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients following established protocols.
  • Perform nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including PET, SPECT, and other specialized studies.
  • Operate gamma cameras and other imaging equipment to capture diagnostic images.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and ensure their safety and comfort.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of administered doses and imaging results.
  • Process and analyze images, ensuring they meet quality standards for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare team members to provide optimal patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including radiation safety and infection control.
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Assist with scheduling and managing patient flow to optimize department efficiency.
  • Educate patients and their families about nuclear medicine procedures and address any questions or concerns.

Skills:

  • Proficient in the preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Expertise in performing nuclear medicine imaging procedures, including PET and SPECT.
  • Skilled in operating gamma cameras and other nuclear imaging equipment.
  • Strong understanding of radiation safety protocols and infection control procedures.
