General Summary HFCI (Henry Ford Cancer Institute) Radiation Oncology Summer Internship Program. Purpose To introduce undergraduate science/engineering students from under‑represented backgrounds to the field of cancer. Races and ethnicities identified as under‑represented minorities include but are not limited to American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, and Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander. The program provides exposure to cancer medicine, including the basics of cancer, patient treatment using technologies such as radiation, interactions with the clinical team, and support team work to ensure patient safety. Eligibility Requirements Applicant must be enrolled in a U.S. college and be in good academic standing at the time of application. Applicant must be in a science, engineering, or related field with an interest in pursuing a medically oriented discipline. Applicants should be Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior. Applicants must identify as a Black/African American, Hispanic, Native American, or Women of Color. Program Goals To give students familiarity with the field of cancer, including radiation oncology, and to teach them about the daily schedule, demands, and work/life balance of a professional in the field. Stipend $2,500 for uninterrupted participation over six weeks, paid in bi‑weekly installments per HR schedule, less applicable federal, state, and city payroll taxes. Housing Location: Detroit, MI. HFCI does not provide housing; participants are responsible for all housing and transportation expenses. #J-18808-Ljbffr
