Position Details:
The Opportunity:
As the Classical Music Radio Host/Producer, you are responsible for hosting classical music programming for Northwest Public Broadcasting's (NWPB) radio stations throughout the state during assigned shifts. You will create and produce pre-recorded elements, such as station promotional and fundraising spots, as assigned. Provide information and education in classical music to the listening audience. Support and contribute to the multimedia/integrated programming and content of Northwest Public Broadcasting. Support station membership growth and fundraising activities both on-air and in person, as assigned.
This position can be located in NWPB's Lakewood, WA or Pullman, WA studio.
Required Qualifications:
- A relevant Bachelor's degree AND one (1) year full-time professional radio broadcast experience in one of the following areas: gathering, writing, editing and producing materials for radio; classical music announcing; or hosting NPR network programming.
- Experience as an on-air host.
- Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Authentic, conversational broadcast voice and ability to work with direction and coaching.
- Demonstrated ability and knowledge of broadcast production and equipment.
- Experience in classical music.
- Experience in the public radio field.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience using Windows computer operating systems and software suites.
- Experience with digital production and broadcasting.

Monthly Salary:
$3,750.85 to $5,000.00 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. This is a temporary position expected to end one year after hire date. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.
Northwest Public Broadcasting at WSU has been reliably funded for many years, and we expect funding to continue to support this position.
