Radiology TechnicianOur mission is to provide exceptional, efficient, and cost effective orthopaedic surgical services to every patient and family we have the privilege to serve.Provides radiology services. Responsible for operating radiological and fluoroscopic equipment.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupports the facility's ideology, mission, goals, and objectives. Performs in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures. Follows the facility's standards for ethical business conduct. Conducts self in a professional manner, and as a positive role model and team member. Recognizes patients' rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties. Respects patients' right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality. Participates in facility committees, meetings, in-services, inventory and activities. Maintains professional relationships with management and medical staff.Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers. Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner.Uses facility resources appropriately and avoids wasteful practices. Reports wasteful practices. Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements.Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted compliance program. Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures.Contributes to the progress and development of the organization's adopted performance-improvement program. Performs according to established performance-improvement policies and procedures. Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care. Assembles necessary supplies and positioning aids for scheduling procedures according to physician's preference card. Tests and monitors equipment for proper working condition. Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction. Documents records and other forms, accurately adhering to approved policies/procedures. Confirms that all persons in the room are appropriately shielded before activating x-ray. Communicates information about the patient's status to other persons responsible for patient care. Applies the prescribed procedures to competently perform radiology technician functions. Follows principles of aseptic technique in performing duties during the procedure. Remains available during the procedure to provide timely responses to physician or patient needs. Follows manufacturer's specifications and OSHA guidelines when performing x-ray procedure. Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies, and equipment by adhering to cleaning care, storage, and calibration procedures as directed. Handles equipment and instruments correctly to provide appropriate availability and safety. Maintains adequate supplies to provide immediate availability during the procedure. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and the physician.QualificationsCooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians. Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, insurance companies, and general public. Ability to make decisions and solve problems.RequiredAssociates degree in Radiological Technology from an accredited Radiology Technology program. Radiology technician certification in the state of Kentucky.PreferredTwo or more years of experience working as a radiology technician. CPR / AED and First Aid certification.Job Quality RequirementsAccuracy. Attention to detail. Timeliness. Organization. Little supervision needed to accomplish tasks.DependabilityAttendance. Punctuality. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to meet deadlines.Physical/Mental RequirementsAbility to sit, stand and walk. Occasional kneeling, stooping, bending or reaching.
