$5,000 sign‑on bonus! Major Responsibilities Determine appropriate radiographic technique and position patients using immobilization and support devices to ensure optimum film quality. Position patient and adjust equipment, immobilization, and support devices as necessary, using tact and courtesy at all times. Determine appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy. Secure history from patient regarding reason for prescribed test and record it on the appropriate form for the radiologist. Operate radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable, computed radiography, and PACS equipment to ensure quality examinations. Operate portable radiographic equipment in the patient’s room or surgery as required. Operate all components, including all locking devices on radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment. Load imaging cassettes where indicated. Adhere to department standards of radiographic quality. Label all images appropriately following department criteria and standards. Use appropriate tech markers on all radiographic images. Check radiographic quality with quality‑control designate prior to patient dismissal. Document pertinent and required information on performance‑improvement logs and data sheets. Deliver patient care in accordance with department standards of continued quality improvement. Maintain a timely flow of patients in room assignments or work areas. Transport patient when indicated to meet customer needs. Secure history from patient regarding reason for prescribed test and record it on the appropriate form. Maintain positive customer interaction, including proper phone etiquette. Follow in‑and‑out patient identification policy. Prepare radiographic/fluoroscopic room by ensuring all needed supplies and equipment are available. Prepare mixtures and/or contrast media following department protocols. Ensure a secure and safe patient and work environment by maintaining continued awareness of safety hazards. Adhere to safety practices and provide a safe work environment for self and others. Promote patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating in safety initiatives. Develop leadership skills and professionalism for self through participation in departmental or hospital‑based committees and continuing‑education programs. Attend to personal work schedule in a consistent and professional manner. Demonstrate self‑direction by identifying learning needs and establishing self‑development activities. Complete all development goals and departmental in‑services and competencies within the timeframe. Attend and participate in department meetings. Work independently while maintaining adaptability and flexibility for change. Identify problems and take steps toward resolution. Demonstrate rapport and assist others when necessary. May perform miscellaneous clerical functions. Education / Experience Required Graduate of an accredited School of Radiographic Technology – previous radiology experience is desirable. Recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups of patients, including child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior, and signs of normal aging; prior experience with various age groups is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Knowledge of Radiology Information Computer System and ability to anticipate patient, employee, and department needs and refer for action. Good communication skills. Licensed Radiographic Technologist by the IDNS/IEMA; CPR certification; ARRT Registry eligible. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Exposed to radiation. Operate portable equipment. Deal with extremely ill patients. Communicate with patients. Adjust to flexible work hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency call‑back. Participate in on‑call program with minimal notice. Do light, medium, or heavy lifting: LIGHT – up to 20–50 lbs occasionally or up to 10 lbs frequently; MEDIUM – up to 20–50 lbs occasionally or 10–25 lbs frequently or up to 10 lbs constantly; HEAVY – 50–100 lbs occasionally or 25–50 lbs frequently or 10–20 lbs constantly. Make independent professional decisions using good judgment. Practice high‑quality patient care and demonstrate technical competence. Function with minimal assistance in performing job activities. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as film processing chemicals. Attend out‑of‑town site visits to view equipment. If the position has direct patient care or contact, the following lifting requirement supersedes prior lifting limits as of 06/01/2015: Lift up to 35 lbs without assistance. For patient lifts over 35 lbs, use patient handling equipment, and involve at least one other associate when available.
