Position Summary Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the Radiology Technician is responsible for performing general x-ray in addition to assists the physician9s) during fluoroscopy procedures and practices sterile technique and prevents cross-contamination when necessary. Performs various types of radiographs from all areas within the physician office setting. Job Details Duties and Responsibilities Follow instructions from Physicians regarding which area of the patient’s body needs imaging. Talk the patient through the procedure and answer questions. Gain patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions. Prepare patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure both to themselves and to the patient. Follow correct techniques and procedures such as patient shielding Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating future needs and placing orders. Ensuring operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques. Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions. Maintaining production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; developing radiographs; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments. Documenting patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Contributes to and consistently applies Catholic Health policies, procedures, and benefits to all customers and/or employees without discrimination. Minimizing radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart. Maintaining safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Position Requirements and Qualifications Education: Radiologic applicants must be graduates from an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. ARRT cert is required as well as current NY State license as a Registered Radiological Technologist or Registry eligible. Current BLS for healthcare provider CPR or CRP/AED certification. Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Experience: At least one year of s a Radiologic Technologist preferred. Current human resources and/or compensation credentials or certification preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing at a workstation and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Salary Range USD $41.69 - USD $54.60 /Hr.
