About this Job: General Summary of PositionAdministers roentgen rays and radioactive substances to patients. Operates x-ray equipment develops film prepare patient's room equipment supplies and medications. Provides patient services using imaging modalities.Primary Duties and Responsibilities Prepare room equipment medicine and materials as needed for patients.Cleans and disinfects x-ray room and equipment.Prepare barium preparation and other chemical mixture for x-rays.Prepare patient for x-rays explains procedures transfers patient to table position patient and assists patient at end of procedure.Follow prescribed techniques in administrating general and specific x-rays. Adjusts equipment determines proper voltage current and desired exposure time. Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient and adjusts the lead shield and selects proper film.Radiographs all incoming patients.Observes patient and machine during procedures and reports unusual occurrences and records patient's condition.Routinely maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties such as writing reports.Assists chief technologist in maintaining radiographic technique charts.Transports patientsFollow infection control guidelines applicable to the section.Efficiently takes mobile x-ray unit to patient's room or emergency room.Works holidays weekends and takes call as necessary.Performs all related duties as assigned.Minimal QualificationsEducationAssociate's degree in Radiology required orBachelor's degree in Radiology requiredLicenses and CertificationsMaryland State License required andARRT Registered with ARRT requiredKnowledge Skills and AbilitiesAbility to comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for Southern Maryland Hospital Center.Ability to read write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior that supports the hospital's mission values and commitment to compliance with all federal state and regulatory laws. Inspires trust and exhibits honesty and integrity within the scope of daily activities.Exhibits professionalism courtesy and excellent customer service while interacting with patients guests and co-workers.Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.Meet hospital guidelines with respect to attendance and punctuality.Is ready to work at the start of the shift and returns promptly after breaks or lunch period.Provides notification for absence tardiness and vacation requests according to departmental guidelines.Reports to work appropriately groomed and in compliance with hospital/departmental dress code.Wears identification badge while on duty.Demonstrates the ability to take responsibility for professional development.
