Summary of Position:
This position will be under general supervision of the Natural Resources Manager and will report all activities related to this program to the Manager and Natural Resources Director.
This position will serve as a rangeland resource advisor to land users, and the Tribal Administration as well as act, in collaboration with the Director as the primary contact and implementor of management actions. The Rangeland Management Specialist will plan and conduct rangeland health assessments, resource monitoring, rangeland improvement projects and serve as the primary specialist for the development and revision of rangeland management plans for Santo Domingo Pueblo.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in natural resources, environment science, ecology, biology, botany, agriculture sciences or other applicable field of study. One to three years of related experience, and experience working with Tribal communities is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of agriculture techniques and principles.
- Experience in preparing technical reports, grant writing, and contract reporting documents.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
- Must be in excellent physical condition, must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis and sustain prolonged walking and standing.
- Must be able to pass an FBI Fingerprint, background, and reference check.
- Extended working hours, including weekends, are uncommon but may be required.
- Must be 21 years of age for insurance purposes.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable through the Pueblo's insurance plan.
