Position Overview This position involves the performance and record keeping for quality control tests that will require the successful applicant to have the ability to perform and understand aggregate gradations, specific gravities, moisture testing at the plant and in the lab, concrete field testing for air, slump, unit weight and casting concrete test specimens, customer interaction to help with service coordination and help to resolve any quality issues that could arise. Have basic materials understanding for rock, sand, cement, flyash and chemical admixtures. Maintain basic material record keeping. Follow verbal and written instruction. Communicate effectively with dispatch, batch plant operations, drivers and QC personnel. Work flexible shifts, including nights, swings, weekends and holidays as needed. Make decisions quickly and effectively. Pass the MSHA Safety course. Note: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. 2 years quality control experience preferred. ACI Level 1 Certification preferred. ACI Strength Testing Technician preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write correspondence; fluently speak and write English. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook; minimum typing speed of 60 wpm. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations ACI Level 1 certification required within 60 days of hire. Driver's license and clean driving record. Other Skills & Abilities Spanish language is a plus. Physical Requirements Employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to sit, climb, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequently required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above shoulders; must regularly lift and/or move from 10 to 80 lbs. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Work Environment The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat.
