JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Responsible for the processing intake inmates on a daily basis.
  • Shakedown inmates entering/exiting buildings.
  • Count all inmates in the Reception and Evaluation / Annex buildings during count times.
  • Supervise inmate clean-up detail. Conduct and monitor the Pill Line.
  • Assist with inmate visitation.
  • Escort inmates to several locations within the confines of the Institution.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Tattoos: Must not be offensive and/or gang related or visibly located on the face or head. Tattoos on the neck will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cannot have been convicted of a crime with a maximum allowable sentence of one year or more, or a fine of $1,000.
  • Must pass a physical examination administered by SCDC.
  • Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Basic Certification Course within first (6) six months of placement into the position.
SCDC INTERNAL APPLICANTS: Must also have completed Defensive Driving Training and cannot be on the No Drive List and or the No Draw List with SCDC.
