JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
  • Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies.
  • Assists in maintaining pool, and in keeping the area clean and free from any hazards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • Requires a Hepatitis B Vaccination within 24-hour period in the case of exposure to infectious disease.
  • Must have good/corrective vision.
  • Must wear protective equipment and follow environmental safeguards.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
  • Work hours may include weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
  • Lifeguards must comply with age 15 years old restrictions of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006).
  • Must have a current health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy.
  • Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para. 2, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

Possesses and maintains OR in the process of obtaining the following certifications:
  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS)
  • American Red Cross \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\"
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED)
  • First Aid
NOTE TO APPLICANTS: You are in the process of obtaining a certification if you plan on registering for or are already registered for the above-named certification courses. Must obtain certification prior to start of pool season on 19 MAY 2023. Cost of certification may be reimbursed by the organization.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
