Position Title Regional Child Care Health Consultant Location North Carolina, US (home‑based, covering 36 counties in western North Carolina) Salary $55,000 - $65,000 per year Position Overview The Regional Child Care Health Consultant (CCHC) is a community‑based position that works with early care and education (child care) administrators, facility owners, educators, health care professionals, and families to ensure optimal health and safety for young children and reduce their risk of illness and harm. The CCHC will enroll in and complete the NC Child Care Health Consultant Course if not already a current, active CCHC and provide technical assistance through consultation, coaching, training, and advocacy. Responsibilities Work collaboratively with child care centers and family child care homes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve high quality, safe child care environments. Provide technical assistance in the form of consultation and coaching to child care facilities to achieve best practice standards. Conduct health and safety assessments, including initial observations, quality improvement planning, program implementation, and follow‑up assessment. Provide health and safety training to improve health knowledge and skill development of early childhood educators. Support child care facilities to serve children with special health care and medication needs. Act as a liaison to local health professionals and community service agencies by offering health education, community information, and referral resources to facilities and families. Advocate for young children by actively serving on and coordinating with local, regional, and statewide committees that support healthy growth and development. Establish and maintain ongoing working relationships with other professionals providing technical assistance in early care and education settings. Collect program‑specific data to assess and monitor successes and determine opportunities for improvement. Maintain active CCHC status as outlined in the CCHC Standards of Practice. Collaborate with NC Resource Center staff on agency‑wide initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to child care, health, or a related field and one year of related training or experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions. Preferred Qualifications Experience conducting training sessions for adult learners. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new online programs and applications. Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Substantial professional experience in a health‑focused field such as nursing, public health, or another health‑related area. Required Licenses / Certifications None specified. Special Physical / Mental Requirements Must be able to drive and have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
