Registered Dental Assistant Job OverviewThe Registered Dental Assistant performs a variety of dental assisting duties while promoting a safe and clean environment for providing quality dental care. These duties include, but are not limited to, assisting the doctors; communicating effectively with patients (or parents if the patient is a child); maintaining equipment and inventory; and following universal precautions, OSHA requirements, and dental board auxiliaries' regulations.Registered Dental Assistant QualificationsKnowledge of OSHA and HIPAA Compliance Standards requiredValid California Registered Dental Assistant licenseCurrent Radiographic Certification requiredAdvanced knowledge and use of dental terminology preferredCPR certification requiredInfection Control certification requiredMeans to travel from one office to another, required as necessaryVast knowledge of different types of dental proceduresRegistered Dental Assistant Responsibilities and DutiesReview charts daily to determine if everything has been documented and if the patient had all work done for which she/he was scheduledPack lab cases and send them out the same dayCheck lab cases daily; ensure that patients are rescheduled when cases were expected but not receivedBe available for filling in for back-office positions when the back is short of staffCheck to make sure rooms, equipment (including chair base), all clinical areas, etc. are cleaned dailyClean, sterilize, and package dental instrumentsTurn off all equipment nightly, including the vacuum, compressor, etc.Attend and participate in staff meetings and team huddlesOther duties as assigned by the Office Manager, Regional Manager, and/or DentistsRegistered Dental Assistant EducationGraduation from an accredited Dental Assisting School preferredRegistered Dental Assistant ExperienceAt least 1 year of recent experience as a Registered Dental Assistant preferred. 1 year ofDental Views experience may be consideredDental Views offers Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Life Insurance, Supplemental Insurance, Vacation time, etc.
