Current CPR‑AED certification for the Professional Rescuer. Performance Responsibilities Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff, communicate with appropriate individuals in accordance with professional standards, school policy and state and local mandates. Safely store and administer medication with proper documentation and follow‑up as needed. Maintain accurate medical records to ensure compliance with state mandates, including immunizations, vision, dental/physical examinations and medical conditions. Perform mandated screening procedures for vision and hearing and follow up with any referrals. Make appropriate assessments, documentation, and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter. Maintain communication with teachers, other school personnel/district school nurses, and parent/guardians to collaborate to meet the health and safety of students. Provide health services, information, and education in an effective manner for the health and wellness of the school community. Complete accident/incident reports for students. Compile, enter, and report data for state mandates/local agencies. Maintain confidentiality regarding all district, school, and health related issues. Act as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies, and the private medical sector to promote the health/wellness of the school community. Communicate with district personnel and other district nurses regarding any transfer of students. Maintain a daily log of student visits and documentation on individual health records. Maintain the health office facility and supplies. Utilize existing technology effectively in the performance of duties. Coordinate health related programs. Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team with the planning of students requiring accommodations. Implement health plans, 504 plans and IEP planning for students who require special nursing interventions during the school day. Maintain contact with a professional nursing organization and utilize continuing education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge. Participate as an active member of the district/school community, representing health/wellness. Provide staff and school community in‑service programs on health topics. Attend district nurse team meetings. Perform other health or school‑related work as requested. Hourly rate and benefits aligned with the ASP Collective Bargaining Agreement.
