Job Description :
The Registered Nurse in this outpatient cardiology clinic provides specialized nursing care focused on cardiology patients preparing for or recovering from various cardiac procedures. The role involves triaging patient calls, performing clinical assessments, medication reconciliation, and patient education while collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure quality care. The nurse is expected to manage medically complex patients, monitor post-procedure complications, and escalate urgent issues appropriately in a fast-paced ambulatory setting.
Responsibilities:- Triage patient calls and messages using clinic protocols and provider direction.
- Perform clinical assessments including vital signs, pain assessment, and symptom evaluation.
- Conduct medication reconciliation and reinforce provider-ordered medication instructions.
- Obtain 12 lead EKG/ECG and interpret arrhythmias.
- Monitor patients for post-procedure complications related to cardiac catheterization, PCI/stent placement, EP procedures, and other vascular/interventional studies.
- Escalate urgent symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, syncope, stroke-like symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, unstable vitals, or vascular access complications.
- Provide patient education on lifestyle modifications and medication adherence.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Document patient care and interactions using EPIC electronic medical records system.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as an RN in an outpatient cardiology clinic and triage setting.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment, medication reconciliation, and vital signs monitoring.
- Ability to interpret arrhythmias and perform 12 lead EKG/ECG.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
- Strong communication, patient education, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with cardiac arrest management and advanced cardiac life support knowledge.
- Familiarity with managing anticoagulation and post-procedure cardiac care.
- Background in quality improvement projects within cardiology or ambulatory care.
- This is a 32-week contract position covering a caregiver on leave.
- Role is ambulatory and does not involve procedural sedation or intra-procedure cath lab nursing unless specifically credentialed.
- No on-call or weekend requirements.
- Open to local, non-travel, and true traveler candidates.
- Strict adherence to clinic protocols for triage and escalation of urgent patient conditions.
- Monday through Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts.
- Shift hours are 08:30 AM to 05:00 PM.
- No weekend or on-call shifts required.
