Registered Nurse Cardiovascular

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the outpatient cardiology clinic is responsible for providing skilled nursing care and patient assessment for cardiology patients preparing for or recovering from interventional procedures. The role involves careful monitoring of symptoms, medication management, and urgent escalation of complications. The RN will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, perform telephone triage, and engage patients in education regarding lifestyle and medication adherence. A minimum of one year of outpatient cardiology or triage nursing experience and proficiency with EPIC charting are required.

• Obtain vital signs and conduct patient health questionnaires, history, and allergy assessments.
• Interpret arrhythmias and manage cardiovascular emergencies including cardiac arrest and chest pain.
• Administer oxygen therapy and utilize AEDs as needed.
• Perform telephone triage and assess patient conditions remotely.
• Educate patients on lifestyle modifications and medication adherence specific to cardiology care.
• Monitor anticoagulation status, medication changes, and post-procedure complications.
• Escalate urgent issues such as chest pain, worsening shortness of breath, syncope, stroke symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, unstable vitals, or vascular access complications.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and interdisciplinary team collaboration.

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience in outpatient cardiology clinic or triage setting.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Skills in cardiovascular assessment including arrhythmia interpretation and CPR.
• Knowledge of oxygen administration and AED use.
• Strong communication and patient education skills.
• Ability to perform telephone triage effectively.

• Experience with interventional cardiology patient populations including cardiac catheterization, PCI/stent placement, EP procedures, and structural heart procedures.
• Familiarity with quality improvement processes in clinical settings.
• Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification.

• No on-call or weekend requirements.
• Position covers a caregiver on leave with a fixed 32-week contract duration.
• Work environment involves medically complex cardiology patients requiring vigilant assessment.
• Attire allows any color scrubs.
• Must be willing to work in a heart and vascular clinic setting.

• Monday through Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Regular weekday day shift schedule with no weekend or overnight shifts.
