This vacancy is located in the Nursing Department of Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA. ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services.

This position may be filled as a probational appointment or as a promotion of a permanent, classified state employee.

The incumbent will act as the Executive Nurse over nursing and therapeutic services of ELMHS.

*** QUALIFICATION REQUIRED***

ELMHS is Joint Commission (JC) accredited and CMS licensed, which requires the incumbent to possess a postgraduate degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, or Business Administration. This qualification must be listed on the candidates application to be considered for the position.

SER (Special Entrance Rate) :
$4697.60/biweekly

Premium Pay for each hour worked:
Retention: $10.00/hr
Facility Longevity: Starting at $2.00

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

General Option:
Possession of a valid Louisiana license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state plus six years of professional nursing experience.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
A baccalaureate degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.

A master's degree in nursing or public health will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Specialized degrees less than a doctorate will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

A doctorate in nursing or public health will substitute for two years of the required experience.

Specialized degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of the required experience.

Public Health Option:
Possession of a valid Louisiana license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing plus a master's degree in nursing or public health and six years of professional nursing experience.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
A doctorate in nursing or public health will substitute for two years of the required experience.

Provides leadership and consultation to Federal, State, and local committees.

Plans, organizes, directs, implements, monitor, and evaluate the Continuing Education Nursing, Continuing Medical Education and Continuous Quality Improvement Program for the Office of Public Health.

Collects, complies, and analyzes a wide variety of statistics and reports to evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of health services.
