The incumbent regularly evaluates and assesses clinical processes, protocols and procedures, frequently implementing improvements and recommending policy intended to ensure the highest possible quality of health care for our students. This position is responsible for managing the development and modification of policies and procedures via the Center's document management system and leading efforts to align clinical practices with the recommendations and standards articulated by our accrediting agency, the American Association of Ambulatory Health Centers (AAAHC). The incumbent provides nursing care to patients by performing a variety of skilled nursing procedures and fulfills the responsibilities of a Staff Registered Nurse (RN) in a university health care setting: patient triage; patient education; and family planning counseling. The incumbent assists with performing: minor procedures; administering immunizations and tuberculin skin tests; and administering medications and treatments as ordered by a licensed SHC clinician.Required Qualifications & Experience: One year of full-time professional nursing experience in the areas of quality management and accreditation or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Must possess and maintain a valid license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California and certification in CPR. Knowledge of areas such as: triage and assessment; patient counseling; and staffing specialized nursing clinics. Broader knowledge of clinic operations and the development and implementation of a nursing program, including procedures and protocols. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent customer service skills. Must have the ability to: work independently on multiple projects and in collaboration with other Student Health Center departments and/or teams; research and analyze data and develop corrective measures as appropriate; critically evaluate policies and procedures; and suggest changes to meet accreditation standards. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer.
