Job Description Summary

We are seeking for an experienced PACU Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment supporting pre-op and Phase II recovery for both inpatient and outpatient surgical patients. The role requires Epic proficiency, strong cardiac monitoring, and broad perioperative case exposure. First-time travelers are NOT accepted. Candidates must be comfortable floating and managing a 1:3 patient ratio.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-op assessment and education for surgical patients

  • Deliver Phase II PACU recovery care through discharge home

  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage dysrhythmias

  • Administer and monitor narcotics/opioid analgesics and reversal agents

  • Manage patients across multiple anesthesia types (MAC, general, local, nerve blocks, conscious sedation)

  • Perform pain assessment and management

  • Deliver discharge instructions and post-op education

  • Care for patients across a wide variety of surgical services

  • Support respiratory needs including breathing treatments and CPAP/BiPAP

  • Accurately document care in Epic EMR

  • Float to comparable perioperative units as needed

Key Requirements
  • Active RN license (Compact accepted per facility policy)

  • Minimum 1 year recent PACU / Pre-Post experience

  • Epic EMR experience REQUIRED

  • Prior travel experience REQUIRED NO first-time travelers

  • Comfortable with 1:3 ratios

  • Willing to float between perioperative areas

  • Trauma Level II experience preferred

  • ACLS preferred | BLS required

Qualifications Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Experience
  • 1+ year PACU / Pre-Post / Phase II Recovery experience

  • Experience with ambulatory and inpatient surgical populations

  • Limited pediatric exposure possible ( 3 4%); peds assignments only if prior peds experience

License
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Required

  • ACLS Preferred
