Registered Nurse (RN), Surgery/Bariatric- Acute Care

RN Acute Care – Night Shift (7:00 pm – 7:00 am) We are seeking a full-time Acute Care RN to join the Surgery/Bariatric unit at Wellstar Kennestone Medical Center. Responsibilities Perform the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence‑based practice, use analytical/critical thinking, and ensure care is individualized; coordinate care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to achieving optimal patient care outcomes. Provide relationship‑based patient‑centered care that is consistent with population‑specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity. Always partner with the patient and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, just‑in‑time and planned patient teaching); keep the patient and significant others updated and make the patient’s goals the focus of the plan of care. Practice using current clinical practice standards. Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model; support diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (interdisciplinary rounds, case review, etc.), complete timely documentation and promote a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by working in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. Participate and support performance improvement inclusive of all stakeholders, research and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care; initiate and/or lead such activities; promote interdisciplinary process and actively support/shared governance at all levels. Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment, required mandatory education, population‑specific education. Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses (and staff or students for all disciplines) to ensure a current and future qualified workforce, modeling professional practice and creating a healthy work environment. Promote evidence‑based practice, nursing research and performance improvement; participate in activities such as value analysis as part of the decision‑making process in evaluating patient care products. Uphold all healthcare system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies put forth by this job description and professional association including legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards ensuring by way of example, such goals as TJC Patient Safety Goals and Wellstar Health Systems’ safety absolutes. Participate in data collection, pose relevant clinical questions to advanced evidence‑based practice; consult appropriate experts and use appropriate resources and evidence to address practice questions. Proactively plan for the care of patients across the care continuum in the course of giving direct patient care. Participate in the development of protocols and procedures when called upon or through self‑initiation in collaboration with care managers and other members of the health care team to achieve best practice outcomes (i.e., decrease re‑admission rates, avoidable days, adverse events). Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Qualifications Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred). Minimum Experience: 2+ years of RN experience; if less than 1 year, completion of accredited school with required clinical hours. Availability: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am, 3 days per week. Licenses & Certifications Valid nursing license: Georgia or Compact Nursing License. Basic Life Support (BLS) and BLS – Instructor or BLS – Provisional certification required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
