Up to $10,000 Sign-on Bonus Based on Eligibility Under the direction of the Medical Director and the direct supervision of the Manager of the Respiratory Care Department, the Respiratory Therapist will initiate and administer all respiratory therapy modalities according to established policies, procedures and protocols at Metrowest Medical Center. Therapy will be administered to patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction/disability or for preventive purposes. Participates in clinical education. Ensures quality and safe delivery of care to patients of all ages. Administers and manages all ventilator care, continuous positive pressure breathing, weaning techniques, and artificial airway care. Set up changes and monitors associated equipment. Performs chest physical therapy, chest percussions and vibrations, postural drainage, incentive exercises, and ambulation exercises as indicated. Performs clinical diagnostic and pulmonary function tests, such as bedside spirometry and other selected tests. Assesses patient respiratory status, observes patient adjustment/reaction to therapy, and evaluates the appropriateness of all therapy. Maintains all necessary patient and departmental records; enters clinical data regarding therapy administered and its effect. Other related duties as required. Qualifications Required: Education: Graduate of an Accredited Respiratory Therapy program required Experience: A minimum of 2 years of Respiratory Therapy experience in an acute care setting preferred Licensure/Certification: Certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) It is strongly encouraged that CRT therapists advance to RRT within 2 years of employment Maintains current licensure by the State of Massachusetts as a Respiratory Therapist Maintains current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications once obtained New hires are required to obtain BLS prior to providing direct care to patients Additional certifications as listed are required within 1 year of employment Preferred: Experience: Previous neonatal & pediatric experience preferred #J-18808-Ljbffr
