Regulatory Compliance Engineer Apply
Job Description
At MatrixSpace, we are building technology that bridges the physical and digital worlds — combining embedded systems, radar sensing, cloud computing, and AI to unlock powerful real-world intelligence. We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong Regulatory Compliance Engineer who thrives at the intersection of RF engineering, testing, and problem-solving.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the lab, digging into complex RF/EMC challenges, driving root-cause analysis, and ensuring products meet rigorous FCC and environmental standards. You will play a critical role in bringing innovative wireless products to market — ensuring compliance is not an afterthought, but a competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities- Lead FCC compliance testing and certification for intentional radiators under:
- FCC Part 15
- FCC Part 87 (Aviation)
- FCC Part 90 (Private Land Mobile Radio)
Plan and execute transmitter compliance testing including: output power, bandwidth, frequency stability, spurious and harmonic emissions
Own Part 15 unintentional radiator testing (radiated and conducted emissions).
Coordinate compliance activities with external test labs and Telecom Certification Bodies (TCBs).
Support and manage MIL-STD environmental testing (e.g., MIL-STD-810) -- Shock, vibration, temperature cycling, humidity, altitude (as applicable)
Lead debug and root cause analysis for test failures and performance margin issues.
Drive corrective actions: shielding, grounding, filtering, layout improvements, enclosure/cable mitigation, firmware changes, calibration tuning.
Produce compliance documentation: test plans, results summaries, FCC exhibits, reports, and certification deliverables.
Partner cross-functionally to ensure compliance is built into product design early and efficiently.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical rigor with practical lab expertise and a strong understanding of RF system behavior.
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Systems Engineering, or similar.
- 3+ years experience in regulatory compliance or qualification testing for RF/electronic products. If you have way more than 3 years of experience, don't let that scare you - we'd still love to talk!
- Experience with FCC intentional radiator certification (Part 15 and/or Part 87 and/or Part 90).
- Hands-on lab experience and strong debugging skills.
- RF/EMC instrumentation: spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, signal generators, antennas, LISNs, near-field probes, network analyzers
- Experience with environmental qualification testing such as MIL-STD-810 (or equivalent).
- Experience working directly with certification labs and regulatory bodies.
- Strong understanding of RF design and EMI mitigation best practices.
- Strong knowledge of EMI troubleshooting, grounding/shielding, filtering, and system-level mitigation
- Test planning, documentation, and compliance report generation
- This position requires on-site presence at MatrixSpace Hoffman Estates facility with up to 10% travel as needed for compliance and environmental test labs.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship and may be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance in the future.
Why Join UsAt MatrixSpace, you won’t just run compliance tests — you’ll shape how compliance is engineered into next-generation sensing and wireless systems. You’ll work alongside world-class engineers solving complex distributed systems challenges and building secure, scalable technologies that serve as the foundation for our future growth.
- Work on cutting-edge technology bridging embedded systems, cloud computing, and AI applications.
- Collaborate with world-class engineers solving complex distributed systems challenges.
- High ownership, fast iteration, and opportunities to lead architecture and innovation initiatives.
- Competitive compensation, equity options, and a culture that values innovation and technical excellence.
