Overview: Connelly School of the Holy Child is seeking a dedicated Religion Long Term Substitute Teacher to cover for a position in our Theology department. This role will require teaching multiple sections of Religion to students in grades 9-12 based in the Roman Catholic tradition, and adhering to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Curriculum Framework. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Catholic doctrine and practices, being a living example of faith for students while creating an engaging and respectful classroom environment. This position is temporary and will require flexibility and adaptability in implementing lessons and managing classroom dynamics.

Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school dedicated to fostering the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. Our commitment to building an inclusive and diverse school community illuminates our dedication to empowering all students. 

Timetable: The goal is to fill this amazing vacancy by December 12, 2025, so the prospective new hire will be Onboarded by December 17, 2025.  This long term assignment is from Jan 5, 2025 to March 27, 2026. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons that align with the appropriate curriculum in Religion.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes dignity and respect among all students.
  • Plan and implement lesson plans that accommodate the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
  • Motivate and support students in their spiritual growth and understanding of Catholic values.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and faculty regarding student progress.
  • Participate in school-wide events, including liturgical celebrations and prayer services.
  • Ensure a positive learning environment based on the principles of the Catholic faith.
  • Support and collaborate with Campus Ministry to enhance the faith life of the school.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Theology, Religious Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching or working in a Catholic educational environment is preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to meet student needs.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with students and faculty.
  • Some light lifting of books and instructional materials may be necessary.

Benefits

This is a temporary position, so Benefits are not provided.

Pay Range: $24.04 - $36.06.

Nevertheless, pay is commensurate with education and experience, and is calculated according to a school-wide pay scale.
