Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant II to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for the accounting and reporting of payroll, employee benefits, and contracted medical provider payments. Key responsibilities include preparing payroll journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and benefit-related accounting activities to support the monthly close process. The position maintains oversight of payroll and benefit liabilities, insurance-related expenses, and provider payment processing, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely. The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with GAAP and internal policies while providing reliable financial information that supports operational and business decision-making. Responsibilities: Payroll & Benefits Accounting for bi-weekly payroll in the general ledger Prepare and record all monthly payroll and bonus accruals Cost of Goods analysis for salary and hourly wages Reconcile payroll and benefit liabilities Manage and account for employee medical and auxiliary benefits Track and enter COBRA payments Accounting for Workers’ Compensation insurance payments and annual reconciliation Accounting for 401(k) payments and annual audit and compliance review Clinical and Contractor Payments Process Primary Care doctor payments and send out statements biweekly Process Urgent Care doctors and send out statements on a monthly basis Process and send out 1099s to vendors annually for payments made Accounting & Reconciliation Review GL reconciliations against the balance sheet Calculate and record capitalized commissions monthly Reporting & Compliance Update monthly metrics for the Board of Directors Reporting Update and notify HR of Office of Inspector General (“OIG”) vendor status monthly Requirements : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in both public accounting and corporate environments Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team First Stop Health is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
