Remote Senior/Staff Backend Engineer (m/f/d)

Join us in reshaping manufacturing with advanced tech like computer vision and AI! As a Senior or Staff Backend Engineer (m/f/d) , you’ll focus on backend strategy and design, driving near real-time processing and proposing key architectural changes. Your will be developing features, APIs, and optimizing databases. You’ll also tackle infrastructure challenges, working across cloud and edge environments to enhance performance. This is a key role in evolving our system to better serve customers with smart, efficient solutions. Lead the development of new features, working mainly on backend to ensure smooth integration with customer applications and services. Oversee the deployment of solutions in both cloud and edge environments, providing the blueprint for hardware setup, debugging, and ensuring the system is functioning effectively. Ensure data quality and maintain operational pipelines, responding to issues related to data consistency and extraction in collaboration with other teams. Draft and implement the backend strategy, with a focus on moving towards real-time processing and optimizing the architectural design, databases, and interfaces. Take ownership of database consistency and quality, perform first-step analysis on customer data issues, and delegate problems to the relevant team members as needed. 5+ years experience as a backend engineer building web applications from scratch. Experience developing Python-based backend applications (we work with Django). Experience with orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible). Experience designing, implementing, and interacting with REST APIs. Experience with SQL databases (such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite). Experience with relational and analytical databases (Postgres, AWS Redshift). You have experience with a Cloud-based application environment (AWS preferred). Fluency in English (German not required). Linux management/debugging experience. Data processing concepts (ETL, ELT). Industry/freelance experience developing web applications for data processing and visualization. You understand and advocate for sound engineering practices, including agile methodology, code review, version control, clean and maintainable code, and CI/CD.
