Introduction

This position is part-time, up to 24 hours a week.

LOCATION OF POSITION

  • Howard County Health Department
  • North Laurel Community Center
  • Howard Community College

POSITION DUTIES

To provide additional reproductive health nursing support at off-site locations.

85% Sexual health clinic at Howard Community College, 18-20 hours a week while class is in session. 6-12 hours a week during summer and winter break. Providing direct patient care, overseeing clinic, scheduling, case management, education, community outreach.

10% Walk-in Clinic at North Laurel Community Center, 4 hours a week. Providing direct patient care, overseeing clinic, scheduling, case management, education.

5% Over all case management, processing labs, addition admin duties. 2-4 hours a week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Experience: None.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelors degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired qualifications:
  • Experience working in an outpatient setting
  • Experience working with adolescents and young adults
  • Experience as a charge or lead nurse
  • Experience with reproductive health
  • Experience conducting HIV/STI testing

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license or license number should be uploaded on your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
