Job Title: In-Vivo Research Associate

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented In-Vivo Research Associate to support preclinical studies involving laboratory animals. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in animal handling, randomization procedures, mortality tracking, and general animal husbandry. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity and welfare of in-vivo studies conducted in support of drug development and biomedical research.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily animal care and husbandry tasks, including feeding, cage cleaning, and health monitoring.
  • Execute study protocols involving animal dosing, sample collection, and behavioral observations.
  • Conduct randomization of animals into study groups using approved methods to ensure unbiased data collection.
  • Accurately record and report mortality counts and clinical observations in accordance with study protocols.
  • Maintain detailed and compliant documentation of all procedures and observations.
  • Collaborate with study directors and veterinary staff to ensure animal welfare and protocol adherence.
  • Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance and other relevant guidelines.
  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives related to in-vivo techniques and animal care.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, animal science, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in in-vivo animal research, preferably in a GLP-compliant environment.
  • Proficiency in animal handling techniques for rodents (mice and rats).
  • Demonstrated experience with randomization procedures and mortality tracking.
  • Strong understanding of animal husbandry practices and ethical care standards.
  • Familiarity with electronic data capture systems and laboratory documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with dosing techniques, IP preferred.
  • Knowledge of study design and statistical principles related to randomization.
  • Comfort with working in a regulated environment and following SOPs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Berkeley, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.

Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
