Work Location: Rockland County NY (near Nanuet NY) and the NY/NJ state border – Commute from the lower cost of living Orange County NY or from North NJ, NYC (higher COL), or CT.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Research Associate/ Process Development Engineer you will run pilot plant, collect data, and analyze samples
- Assist in assembling and safely operating laboratory-scale extrusion and reactor systems
- Keep a lab notebook. Carefully observe and report trends, anomalies an unexpected result
- Run routine analytical tests of samples from your micro-unit and small pilot plant. (There is a Sr Analytical Chemist who will work on analytical methods development, using GC, HPLC, ICP, TGA )
- Write SOPs and Conduct safety reviews and participate in training as needed
- Aid in the design and development of pilot and commercial plants based on research findings.
- Partner with the team who runs the large pilot plant in TX and the technology licensing partner company brought in to expedite commercial plant design.
- Provide R&D summaries and presentations to senior management and customers
Requirements
- A minimum BS Chemical Engineering, advanced degree preferred.
- Will also consider a Chemists who has been involved with building & running small scale pilot plants
- Best with 5+ years of experience in an industrial R&D environment, including co-ops and internships.
- Has scaled up processes from bench through pilot plant scale.
- Knowledge of extrusion processes.
- Mechanical aptitude for building, setting up, and troubleshooting lab equipment.
- Experience with LabView is a plus
- Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future.
